Miami — Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS), one of Miami‑Dade’s longest‑serving nonprofit social service agencies, has announced the appointment of Mitchell “Mitch” Morris as Chair of its Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term. Morris succeeds Vanessa Ressler, who will continue serving as Immediate Past Chair.
Morris has been a dedicated member of the JCS Board for more than eight years, holding leadership roles including Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Audit Committee Chair. Professionally, he serves as Vice President of Internal Audit for Restaurant Brands International, overseeing global audit and risk management for brands such as Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeyes, and Firehouse Subs.
Miriam Singer, President and CEO of JCS, praised Morris’s leadership and financial expertise, noting that his vision will strengthen the agency’s mission of improving quality of life and self‑sufficiency for Jewish and broader communities across South Florida.
JCS also announced its 2026–2027 Executive Committee:

Additionally, four new members joined the Board of Directors: Ilene Kossman, Bruce Libhaber, Jill Swartz, and Dennis Kerbel.
For more than 106 years, JCS has provided critical services including support for Holocaust Survivors, older adults, families, and individuals facing mental health challenges. The agency also operates the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for Miami‑Dade and Monroe counties, offering 24/7 confidential support.
Morris stated: “I am honored to serve as Board Chair of an organization that has made such a profound impact on our community for more than a century. JCS embodies compassion, dignity, and responsibility for others.”
