Orlando — Walmart has officially rolled out drone delivery operations in Central Florida through its partnership with Wing, an Alphabet‑owned drone operator. The service currently covers five Orlando‑area Walmart stores — including locations in Apopka, Clermont, Ocoee, and Haines City — and provides access to more than 50,000 households and businesses.
Customers can now receive school supplies, electronics, and daily essentials in as little as 30 minutes, with drones capable of flying up to 60 miles per hour and lowering packages safely to the ground via tether. Each drone currently carries up to 2.5 pounds per flight, with plans to expand capacity to five pounds.
This Florida launch is part of Walmart’s broader strategy to integrate drone delivery into its nationwide logistics network. By 2027, Walmart and Wing expect to expand coverage to 270 Walmart locations across the United States, including major cities such as New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, Salt Lake City, and Memphis.
Wing selected Orlando as its first Florida market due to the region’s diverse and growing population, as well as its high demand for fast, convenient delivery options. The service is expected to benefit both residents and tourists, offering quick access to vacation essentials without long drives to stores.
Walmart previously experimented with drone delivery in Florida through a partnership with DroneUp in Tampa and Orlando in 2022, but that collaboration ended in 2024. Wing now operates in some of the same locations, continuing Walmart’s push to innovate in last‑mile delivery.
