Democratic North Miami Beach Mayor Anthony DeFillipo, who has faced accusations of no longer living in the city, now faces stiff charges for voting illegally from within its bounds.
State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said her office has evidence DeFillipo actually lives in Broward County and that he traveled to the city to cast ballots three times, breaking the law.
He was arrested and charged with three felonies, each carrying a maximum five-year prison sentence.
It’s the latest development of related unrest North Miami Beach has seen recently, following a City Commissioner’s removal, city attorney’s resignation and city manager’s firing.
