BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A new rapid response team is coming to Palm Beach County.
Hatzalah is the Hebrew word for “help,” and it’s also the name of the volunteer ambulance corporate racing into town.
“The most important value in Judaism is saving lives and when every minute and second counts, we want to be there to help and and make that happen,” said Isaac Hersh, the founder of the Palm Beach branch. He says Hatzalah will bridge the gap in communities until Fire Rescue crews can arrive at the scene and take patients to the hospital.
The move has been two years in the making. The service received approval from the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, as more Jewish people migrate from the Northeast to South Florida.
“Since the start of COVID-19, Jewish communities across the county have been making their way to Florida and the need for our group was in a much higher demand,” said Hersh.

The organization was started in Brooklyn in the 1960’s. The mission was to improve rapid response.
The branch in Palm Beach County will be the second Hatzalah of Florida, the other is in Miami.
You don’t have to be a part of the Jewish community to receive treatment from the Hatzalah ambulance service. You just need to call.
