NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL — More than 200 people from across South Florida gathered Sunday evening in North Miami Beach for an uplifting community event marking the Jewish holiday of Yud Beis Tammuz, featuring internationally acclaimed speaker Rabbi Yossi Paltiel. The event also attracted thousands of additional viewers through a live online broadcast.
Hosted at Yeshiva Torah Ohr in partnership with Congregation Magen David and Bais Menachem Chabad of North Miami Beach, the evening centered on timeless themes of religious freedom, courage, and the power of one individual to inspire change.
Yud Beis Tammuz commemorates the 1927 liberation of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, after he was imprisoned by the Soviet regime for maintaining Jewish education and religious life during one of history’s most oppressive periods. His eventual release became a symbol of resilience and the triumph of faith over persecution.
Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, one of today’s most sought-after Jewish educators, captivated the audience for hours with a blend of historical insight, personal stories, humor, and practical lessons. Rather than focusing solely on history, he challenged attendees to consider how every individual can live with greater purpose, conviction, and responsibility in today’s world.
Throughout the evening, participants joined in traditional Jewish melodies, shared a festive meal, and engaged in heartfelt conversations—hallmarks of a farbrengen, a Chassidic gathering designed to strengthen community and inspire personal growth.
Organizers said the strong turnout reflected a growing desire for meaningful, in-person experiences that bring people together across different backgrounds and levels of Jewish observance.
“The message of Yud Beis Tammuz is as relevant today as ever,” one organizer noted. “Freedom is not only about political rights; it’s about having the courage to live according to your values and inspire others to do the same.
“The annual gathering has become one of South Florida’s most anticipated evenings of Jewish inspiration, drawing participants from throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
