The Scheck Hillel Community School was evacuated following reports of a potential explosive threat, as confirmed by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue authorities to local 10 News.
While authorities acknowledge the likelihood of it being a swatting incident, they have not definitively dismissed other potential scenarios.
According to parents interviewed by 10 News, students were relocated to the school’s field after an audible disturbance was heard.
Ynet news site notes that the school is attended by some children of Israeli consulate employees, adding to the community’s concern.
