The Sunshine State has plenty of room for people fleeing repressive states.
Regarding Allan Jacob’s “Why Orthodox Jews Are Leaving Brooklyn for Florida” (Cross Country, Aug. 7): The Sunshine State has plenty of room for people fleeing repressive states, so the welcome mat is out for Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish families seeking educational choice, low taxes and good governance. Trading New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis should be a no-brainer.
Florida’s growing population of Cuban- and Venezuelan-Americans is deepening the state’s red hue. Most Jewish voters in Florida are Democrats, but Orthodox Jews in America (about 10% of the country’s Jewish population) opt for more personal freedom and a less-intrusive government by large margins. Florida under Mr. DeSantis is an ideal destination for them.
