United Hatzalah organized a mass-casualty simulation for female volunteers. The organization takes pride in being the largest independent nonprofit volunteer organization, which offers fast and free emergency medical care response throughout the country. Unlike ambulances that typically take between 7 and 25 minutes to arrive, Hatzalah volunteers reach the scene within 90 seconds to three minutes of a call. When an ambulance arrives, Hatzalah volunteers hand over the patient to the EMTs for transportation to the hospital. If there is no EMT team, the volunteers remain to assist. Hatzalah’s volunteers are on call 24/7, including on holidays and Shabbat, and use GPS technology and motorcycles called “ambucycles” and e-bikes. The organization does not receive any government funding.
