A note from the LEC Security Team
This morning, a report was given by multiple students and a staff member of two males with firearms outside of the Beit Apel campus on 167th St. LEC Security responded immediately and, per security protocol, a lockdown was initiated on the campus, as well as at the Flagship Campus on 7th Ave, while the threat identification was carried out.
Miami Gardens Police Department and Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to augment the LEC security team’s efforts to secure the campus and ensure no active threats were present.
Once that process had been completed, the lockdown was lifted, and normal operations resumed.
It appears that there was a road rage incident between two drivers outside of the campus that caused this lockdown. We are very grateful for the calm and mature manner in which the students carried themselves and we thank all our staff, parents, and students for continuing to be partners in safety and security.
We would also like to thank the professionalism and swift response of our dedicated security team.
Thank you,
Mr. Zalman Myer Smith
