Mykhaylo and his older sister were raised by a single mother after their father did not return from World War II. As the only boy in the family, Mykhaylo had to grow up quickly and began contributing to the family from an early age. He always found ways to ease the burden of his mother’s everyday responsibilities, while also becoming a close friend and, in many ways, a father figure to his older sister.
Profession and was deeply respected and loved by the people he worked with. Following the fall of the Soviet Union, he became one of the relatively few successful entrepreneurs of that difficult transitional period. With no formal business training and little experience with a free-market economy, Mykhaylo learned to navigate an entirely new and often challenging environment. He built a successful business and, just as importantly, helped others find their way and establish businesses of their own.
Mykhaylo met his wife, Tamara, in Kharkiv, where she had moved to attend college and become a nurse. They were together for four years before deciding to make it official, beginning a marriage that would last fifty-three years. Mykhaylo was a caring and devoted husband to Tamara and a loving father to their only daughter, Elena.
After retiring from his business, Mykhaylo and Tamara made the decision to immigrate to the United States to reunite with their daughter, who had been living there for several years. They first made their home in Massachusetts and later moved to Florida, where they settled and enjoyed their retirement years together.
Perhaps what those who knew Mykhaylo will remember most was his wisdom and the way he treated people. He was a wonderful listener who had a remarkable ability to offer advice without ever making you feel judged or foolish. He was wise, thoughtful, and tactful, and always treated others with respect. People naturally turned to him for guidance, knowing that he would listen first and speak only when he had something meaningful to say.
Above all, Mykhaylo was deeply devoted to his family. He was someone they could always rely on for advice, support, reassurance, or simply a listening ear. His strength, wisdom, and quiet kindness touched the lives of those around him, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Visitation will be held at Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg Rubin Zilbert Memorial Chapel located 18840 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL 33180. on Tuesday September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
