
Rabbi Bentzion Chanowitz, a devoted Chossid from Brooklyn, NY, who founded a Torah Gemach which helped hundreds of Mosdos, passed away on Wednesday, 7 Nissan, 5786.

Rabbi Bentzion Chanowitz, a devoted Chossid and Baal Chesed from Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, 7 Nissan, 5786.
He was 69.
R’ Bentzion was a businessman with a passion for Chesed and helping a fellow Jew.
He was the son of R’ Yisroel and Sarah Chanowitz, a well known askan and developer in Crown Heights for many years.
He founded the Bais Yisroel Torah Gemach, which he named after his father. The Gemach provided Torahs to Chabad shluchim in the United States, in Israel and around the world, as well as assisted in repairing older Torah scrolls. The Gemach also helps commission brand-new Sefer Torahs to be lent out.
He passed away after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Babshi and children, Yoni Chanowitz – Crown Heights and Aliza Vishnia – Israel.
He is also survived by his sister Chaye Freyda Kohl – Highland Park, NJ.
The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday, passing by 770 at 2:15 PM.
